Course overview
This half-day COSHH course is designed for employees and supervisors who use, store, handle, or may be exposed to hazardous substances at work.
This includes common workplace products and hazards such as cleaning chemicals, maintenance products, fuels and oils, aerosols, dusts, fumes, vapours, and some biological agents.

In a practical, easy-to-follow session, we cover:
What COSHH is and why it matters
Legal duties under COSHH (employer and employee responsibilities)
Identifying hazardous substances and understanding routes of exposure (inhalation, skin contact, ingestion, eye contact)
Understanding hazard labels and GHS/CLP pictograms
How to use Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and what information to look for
The COSHH risk assessment process (what a good assessment should include)
Control measures and the hierarchy of control (eliminate, substitute, engineering controls, safe systems of work, PPE/RPE)
Safe handling, storage, segregation, and disposal
What to do in an emergency (spills, exposure, incident reporting)

By the end of the course, learners should be able to:
Explain what COSHH covers and why it’s important
Recognise common hazardous substances in their workplace
Interpret key information on labels and Safety Data Sheets
Understand how COSHH assessments are completed and reviewed
Apply practical controls to reduce exposure and improve compliance
