Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment
The accredited qualification you need for your CSCS Green Labourer Card — available as a standalone qualification or as part of our Complete Package.
It is a 2-stage qualification. Stage 1 is the online training — self-paced, instant access. Stage 2 is the accredited assessment — we arrange it for you. Both stages are included in both options.
What you need for the CSCS Green Card
Level 1 H&S qualification
2-stage, fully online — both options include this
CITB HS&E Test pass
Included in Complete Package — or arrange yourself
CSCS card application
Included in Complete Package — or apply at cscs.uk.com
Choose Your Option
Whether you want the qualification on its own or a fully managed route to your Green Card, we have you covered.
Option 1
Level 1 Health & Safety Qualification
For learners who only require the Level 1 qualification. You manage the CITB HS&E Test and card application yourself.
Please note
This option provides the Level 1 qualification only. To get a CSCS Green Labourer Card you also need to pass the CITB HS&E Test and apply for your card at cscs.uk.com — both are separate costs arranged by you.
Option 2
Complete CSCS Green Labourer Card Package
One package. One payment. We manage the entire process — from your Level 1 training through to your CSCS Green Labourer Card application.
After purchase, National Skills Centre will contact you to obtain the information needed to arrange your CITB test booking.
The Level 1 Qualification: 2 Stages, Both Included
Both the £99 and £200 options include both stages. Stage 1 is the online training. Stage 2 is the accredited assessment — we arrange it for you.
Stage 1 — The Training
Online · self-paced · instant access
Online health and safety training course
Work through the course modules at your own speed — evenings, weekends, or whenever suits you. Knowledge checks built into each module throughout. No time limit, no fixed schedule.
Stage 2 — The Assessment
Online · we arrange it for you
Accredited Level 1 H&S exam
Once you complete Stage 1, contact us and we arrange your accredited Level 1 exam. Taken online — no travel required. Pass and you receive your full Level 1 certificate.
The CITB HS&E Test is a separate requirement
The CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test is required for the CSCS Green Card but is not part of the Level 1 qualification. With the £200 Complete Package, we arrange it and the fee is included. With the £99 option, you book and sit it independently at citb.co.uk.
How the Complete Package Works
Five clear steps — we guide you through every one of them.
Complete your training online
Complete the Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment training online at a time that suits you. Self-paced with no time limit.
Pass your Level 1 assessment
We arrange your accredited Level 1 assessment (Stage 2). Pass it and you receive your qualification certificate — the document CSCS requires for the Green Card application.
We arrange your CITB test
National Skills Centre arranges your CITB Health, Safety and Environment Operatives Test at a suitable approved test centre. The CITB test fee is included in the £200 package.
Attend and pass your CITB test
Attend your booked test centre and complete the CITB HS&E Operatives Test. This is a separate CITB requirement — not part of the Level 1 qualification — and must be passed before you can apply for your card.
Apply for your CSCS Green Labourer Card
Once you have both the Level 1 certificate and your CITB test pass, we support you through the CSCS card application. The card application fee is included in the package.
Important Information
The Complete Package is designed for people seeking the CSCS Green Labourer Card. Eligibility requirements apply — if you are unsure which card is right for your role, check the CSCS card finder at cscs.uk.com before purchasing.
Purchasing the Complete Package does not guarantee that a CSCS card will be issued. Learners must successfully complete the Level 1 qualification, pass the CITB HS&E Test, and meet the applicable CSCS requirements.
The £200 Complete Package includes one CITB HS&E Test attempt. If the learner does not pass the CITB test, any additional test or resit fees are payable separately.
National Skills Centre is not a CITB test centre. The CITB HS&E Test is taken at an approved CITB test centre. As part of the Complete Package, National Skills Centre assists with arranging the booking on your behalf.
